the Great Wall
To the northwest and north of Beijing, a huge, serrated wall zigzags it's way to the east and west along the undulating mountains. This is the Great Wall, which is said to be visible from the moon.
Construction of the Great Wall started in the 7th century B.C. for defense purposes. The Great Wall was renovated from time to time after the Qin Dynasty. A major renovation started with the founding of the Ming Dynasty in 1368, and took 200 years to complete. The wall we see today is almost exactly the result of this effort. With a total length of over 6,000 kilometers, What lies north of Beijing is but a small section of it.

Beihai Park

Beihai Park lies just to the west of the Forbidden City,The heart of  the park consists of three linked bodies of water—Beihai, Zhonghai and Nanhai Lakes (north, middle and south lakes, respectively). The Jade Islet connects to the east shore of Beihai Lake and the surrounding shores consist of beautifully landscaped gardens. It's easy to spend the better part of a day on the 86-hectare (186 acre) park, strolling, relaxing, people-watching and visiting a number of exceptional sights: the Yuan-era Jade Jar of Dushan in Tuan Cheng (the Round City), the striking Tibetan White Dagoba, the Painted Gallery, the Nine Dragon Screen, Daxitian (Heavenly King Temple), the Liulige Tower, Yong'an Temple and the Five-Dragon Pavilion being among the most popular.

the Olympic Greens

Beijing reinvented itself for the 2008 Olympics and nowhere are the fruit of those efforts more prevalent than in the Olympic Greens. Besides being a pretty good place see leaves, grass and ponds while taking a relaxing stroll in the middle of town, the Olympic Greens are where you want to start checking out Beijing's newest architectural marvels, namely the Bird's Nest National Stadium and the Watercube National Aquatics Center.

Visitors interested in green design might want to pay a visit to other building in the sprawling 1,135 hectares (2,805 acres) grounds. The Beijing National Indoor Stadium and the Beijing Olympic Green Convention Center comprise environmentally-friendly features such as rainwater collection, photovoltaic generators, and super efficient insulation.

Nan Luo Gu Xiang

Where do Beijing's locals go to relax We will introduce to you a small street in eastern Beijing with over 700 years of history, Nan Luo Gu Xiang. This lane is less than 1,000 meters long, but here you can find many bars, stores and restaurants. Many residents gather here to hang out, and have turned Nan Luo Gu Xiang into one of the hippest streets in Beijing.

Nan Luo Gu Xiang was built 700 year ago in the Yuan dynasty and is mainly a protected street of traditional courtyard homes called Siheyuan. The walls and tiles on Nan Luo Gu Xiang are a grayish tone, not the royal red of the Forbidden City just one street away. The court officers and literates used to live on this street. The lane has now turned into a meeting place for people, with many different types of bars and small shops.
Peking Roast Duck
Peking Duck, or Peking Roast Duck is a famous duck dish from Beijing that has been prepared since the Yuan Dynasty, and is now considered one of China's national foods.
The dish is prized for the thin, crispy skin, with authentic versions of the dish serving mostly the skin and little meat, sliced in front of the diners by the cook. Ducks are bred specially for the dish, which after 65 days are slaughtered and seasoned before being roasted in a closed oven or a hung oven. The meat is often eaten with pancakes, spring onions, and hoisin sauce or sweet noodle sauce. The two most notable restaurants in Beijing which serve this delicacy are Quanjude and Bianyifang, two centuries-old establishments which have become household names.

Getting to Wangfujing is pretty easy.  You can take the subway and get off at the Wangfujing .   Alternatively, you can of course take the taxi.   Show the
The street has two major shopping malls, one of which, Oriental Plaza, sprawls a further 2 blocks to the east (and another 15 minute walk).  Wangfujing street is also home to a number of large department stores, souvenir stores, and whole side streets full of food stalls, Chinese painting stores and other goodies.
